What does the One Big Beautiful Bill Act do to the Section 179 deduction?
The OBBBA raises the Section 179 deduction from $1,250,000 to $2,500,000, doubling the amount of expense that can be taken. It also raises the phaseout threshold from $3,130,000 to $4,000,000.
The new limits will continue to be adjusted for annual inflation. Once the $4,000,000 threshold is hit the deduction will phase out dollar-for-dollar
These changes go into place to property placed in service January 1st, 2026, and after.
